How I clean your extractor
- The power to the extractor is switched off before I start
- The outer casing and filters are removed
- Metal grease filters are degreased in the heated dip tank
- The inside of the hood and the fan housing are cleaned
- The outside, lights and controls are cleaned and polished
- Everything is refitted and tested
Why it matters
A clogged extractor can't do its job, so smells and steam hang around and grease settles on your kitchen cupboards. Built-up grease in the filters is also flammable, which is why a clean extractor is a safer one.

Do you replace charcoal filters?
Charcoal (carbon) filters can't be cleaned, only replaced. I'll let you know if yours need changing.
How often should an extractor be cleaned?
For most homes, once or twice a year. It's easiest to have it done at the same time as your oven.
